spider man across the spider verse
Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse, the animated movie that earned a jaw-dropping collection of $17.35 million on its preview night at the US box office
becoming the second-highest preview night-grosser of all time for an animated film, failed to cast its spell on the Indian box office.
The movie, where Brooklyn’s favourite superhero, Spider-Man, is thrown into the multiverse to face many of his kind and save them against a new threat in a thrilling adventure, failed to pass the crucial weekday test at the Indian box office, earning only ₹2.20 crore on Tuesday.
The highly anticipated movie, which is a sequel to the 2018 grosser ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
went down to the Vicky Kaushal-Sara Ali Khan-starrer light romantic comedy ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,’ taking its total countrywide collection to only ₹23.34 crore.

The lukewarm response in India is surprising considering that the animated movie has been released in multiple regional Indian languages other than Hindi and Punjabi, and the movie
for the first time, introduces the character of Pavitr Prabhakar to the world who is India’s own Spider-Man staying in 50101’s Mumbai.

Interestingly, popular Indian cricketer, Shubman Gill, has lent his voice to the character of Pavitr Prabhakar in the Hindi and Punjabi versions of the film.
