Happy Baisakhi 2023: Images, Wishes, Significance, When is Baisakhi this year.
Baisakhi, also known as Vaisakhi, is an important occasion that marks the beginning of the harvest season and is celebrated by the Sikh community. Baisakhi would be celebrated on the 14th of April in 2023. It is celebrated in different ways by different Indian states, named as Pana Sankranti in Odisha.
A harvest festival observed in India, primarily in the state of Punjab, is called Baisakhi, sometimes known as Vaisakhi. Every year, it is observed on April 13th or 14th. The Sikh community, known as the Khalsa, was founded in 1699 and is commemorated by the festival of Baisakhi. It is seen as a celebration of the harvest in spring.
Vaisakhi also marks the first day of the Nanakshahi Calendar and the first month of it is called Chet. The calendar corresponds to Guru Nank Dev ji in relation to the year 1469 CE.
The Khalsa, which is the collective title for Sikhs who have been baptised, was founded by Guru Gobind Singh during this event.
There are a plethora of sects that celebrate Baisakhi including groups like Sikhs, Hindus and Jains. To commemorate the harvest season, people dress in traditional clothing, dance to folk music, and sing traditional tunes. People also bathe in the sacred Ganga river in various areas of the nation to atone for their transgressions.
Every festival has a specific menu of foods that enhance the celebration. Sarson ka Saag, one of the most treasured Punjabi foods, is served during Baisakhi as well. Without a bowl of flavorful Sarson ka Saag served with Makki ki Roti, Baisakhi celebrations in Punjab are just incomplete.
